Laser cut Bowl

The object is a visual centrepiece with sharp lines and interesting shadows

Balance is a bowl I created as part of my final year of  Study in my bachelor of product design. Its is designed mainly as asthetic addition to a living/dining room and as a conversation piece. This is not to say that it doesn’t function as a bowl, and can hold medium size objects.

It is crafted out sustainably sourced plywood and uses laser cutting to create its form. The bowl can arrive assembled or, if you feel creative, flat packed. In Its current iteration the bowl is assembled using glue but I am looking at ways to make it glue free.

The bowl primary target market is the middle to upper class, predominently 25 to 40years or older age group. The target market is are most likely to be couples sharing a living space or young families

Its secondary market is the older 55plus generation. Those who are approaching retirement or whose children have moved.

The product would ideally be sold at smaller furniture stores who specialise in “designer” furniture and accesories.
